Dan Knox Consulting is a service provider, not a hardware or software reseller. As is the case for all service providers, the quality of the tools we use to provide our service is important. You can't provide top quality service with less than top quality parts.

The items listed under the links to the left are the ones we recommend to our clients. If you are interested in purchasing, send us an email and we will recommend a reseller or you may contact the supplier directly. Most recommended equipment contains a direct link.

If you are a hardware supplier and would like to quote on supplying systems to our clients, please email us and we will begin our due diligence on your company. We will be requesting references and contacting your existing clients for reports on your service.

Internet Service Providers (ISPs) - Who to Choose?

Choosing an ISP is not an easy thing these days, although it is easier now than it used to be. Our company has had relationships with no fewer than a dozen or so ISPs over the last 20 years. In fact we had so much trouble with ISPs that we had to actually start supplying ISP services to some of our existing clients. (Many of the ISPs we used to recommend had a very bad habit of going out of business!)

For a very long time we did not recommend the larger national ISPs. And for an even longer time we did not recommend AT&T (previous known as SBC, PacBell and before that AT&T!). Over the last few years or so, their service has improved to the point that we are now (reluctantly) recommending them. We prefer local providers that have been in business for a while and have a well-trained and stable staff. However, these type of companies just don't exist any longer.

Currently we strongly recommend Comcast. This was not always the case but their service has greatly improved over the last few of years. And, right now, they represent an excellent value. Comcast may not be the most reliable provider, but they offer tons of bandwidth and no one can touch their price. A number of DKC Associates use Comcast to provide bandwidth at home and we use Comcast bandwidth at our main office in San Francisco.

Presently DKC can provide most ISP services, including web hosting, e-Mail, and co-location services.
