Tip 9: When your screen is black
If your computer won't
start up, try these steps before calling the help desk. First, unplug the
computer and plug it back in, then try to start up again. If the computer hums
when you press the power button, but the screen stays dark, make sure your
monitor is plugged in and turned on. If there are knobs to adjust the
brightness of your screen, make sure that the brightness is not turned all the
way down. These steps may seem simple, but
they are the first things we will try when dealing with a computer that won't
turn on.
Tip 10: Set up
an Out of Office Autoreply
In Outlook you can set
up an automatic reply to be sent to people who email you when you are out of
the office. In Outlook, click on the Tools menu and choose Out of Office
Assistant to set it up.
