1980 Islander 36

We purchased this boat on September 29th, 2005 from Svendsen's Boat Works in Alameda.  Luna Sea now as a permanent home at Pier 39, berth E30.

 

 

 

Luna Sea is well-equipped with the following:

Brand new mast with all new running rigging, standing rigging and new Harken furler.
Freshly painted sheer stripe and waterline, LPU'd 5/05.
New epoxy bottom.
Electronics: Raymarine ST60 instrument package.
Autohelm autopilot.
Heart inverter.
Sony CD player.
VHF radio.
Engine: Pathfinder diesel (runs well).
Sails: Hood Vectran Main and 110% jib.
Control lines led aft to Harken winches on cabin top.
Canvas: Custom dodger. Wheel cover. Rail covers. Hatch and companionway covers.
Cockpit cushions.
2 Danforth anchors with line/chain rode.
Well-maintained interior.

 

 

REPAIRS TO “LUNA SEA” PERFORMED BY SVENDSEN’S

 

Structural 

  • Repaired deck and bulkhead on starboard side

  • Fabricated new starboard chainplates

  • Rebedded portside chain plates

 

Mast and Rigging 

  • Installed new painted mast and spreaders (black)

  • New standing rigging

  • New Harken furler and control lines

  • New running rigging

  • New Mast-head transdouser

  • Installed new butt slides and batten protectors on the main

  • Restiched straps on jib cover

  • Installed a new mast-head anemometer

 

Deck

  • Repaired the primary winches

  • Removed and replaced port aft window

  • Painted the winch bases

  • Replaced the starboard Genoa track

  • Replaced the forward deck hatch lens

  • Repaired the sun cover

  • Repaired cabin top hatch cover

  • Rebedded and refastened forward port life line stanchion base

 

Engine 

  • Serviced the engine

  • Scaled corrosion on starter motor, and preserved meal casing

  • Secured wiring harness over the engine

  • Replaced tachometer and sender

  • Replaced the battery cables

  • Opened sea water pump and replaced impeller

  • Secured water lift muffler

  • Scaled and preserved metal exhaust riser

  • Rerouted exhaust ventilation duct

  • Replaced the low engine compartment exhaust hose

  • Reattached low vent hose to the vent cowl on the transom

  • Repaired fuel fill hose loop

 

Bottom Work 

  • Gel strip bottom

  • New epoxy bottom

  • Painted Bottom (Trinidad Red)

  • Cleaned prop and shaft

  • Replaced zincs

 

Topsides 

  • Painted the boot stripe

  • Painted sheer stripe

  • Buffed and waxed topsides

 

Electrical 

  • Checked all instruments

  • Replaced broken switch on the DC distribution panel

  • Fabricated cover for electrical panel in the cockpit locker

  • Cleaned up and secured wiring on back of electrical panel

  • Attached green grounding wire for 120 volt AC system to the main negative buss bar of the 12-volt DC system

  • Replaced battery cables

  • Removed cut off attachment lugs and installed return grounding wire to the batteries

  • Replaced broken light fixture cover in engine compartment

  • Replaced 12 volt alternator

  • Replaced wiring connections for the electric toilet flushing water pump

  • Secured wiring behind port side main cabin drawers

  • Removed misc. dead wires

  • Secured wiring inside aft cockpit locker

  • Supplied direct power from batteries to bilge pump with independent overcurrent protection

  • Mounted battery monitor display on bulkhead

  • Bonding wire attached to forward keel bolt was reattached to mast

  • Wired Inverter case ground to thru hull

  • Tested inverter system

 

Steering 

  • Built up rudder stop

 

Water and Sanitation Systems

  • Repaired fresh water shut off valves

  • Installed strainer for manual bilge pump hose

  • Changed cockpit drains

  • Replaced bilge pump

  • Secured holding tank under forward V-berth

  • Repaired holding tank vented loop

  • Repaired plastic flange at base of toilet

  • Installed hose clamps on flushing water intake hose

  • Repaired head sink extendable shower nozzle

  • Filled tanks and tested fresh water system

 

Interior 

  • 7 yards of new headliner

  • New headliner trim

  • Misc. varnish work

 

Anchoring 

  • Moused shackle attaching chain to anchor

  • Replaced hose clamps for anchor locker
